    Annonaceae systematics

    With the developement of molecular phylogenetics the understanding of the relationships between genera of Annonaceae has greatly improved. Before this technical and theoretical adavancement, the infrafamilial classification of Annonaceae was problematic mainly due to the absence of unambiguous floral, fruit and seed characters (Doyle and Le Thomas, 1996).
